Default Thinking of switching to .48 exhasut housing

From my .63
I dont run high boost very often. In fact 99% of my races are on pump gas. I need to get this turbo spooling a little quicker. Whats the cost in buying an exhaust housing by itself?

Turbine housings themselves aren't terribly expensive. Check with AGP or one of the other vendors at the type and I'm sure they can get you a price quote.

The housings themselves run anywhere from the low $200's to the high $400 depending on the size you need. When you inquire for the housing have your serial number handy so we can look up what exact turbo you have and match you up correctly.

This is what was on the box:

T3_T4E BB-60-D-D-S
T3_T4E BB-60-D-D-S5 4BOLO_63

Do you need the the actual T- number? Also, do you see any disadvantages or problems with doing this?

The only possible disadvantage would be on the top end of the power band. If the .48 is too small (not saying it is) you may see your boost start to taper off as the turbine can no longer flow out enough exhaust gas to keep the turbine speed where you want it (too much back pressure). I'm not saying its going to happen but that would be the only draw back if it did happen.

rj, I don't know if I'm reading my turbonetics part numbers right, but if the "S5" means you have a stage 5 turbine wheel, maybe what you need is to get it rebuilt with a stage 3 turbine wheel - with a .63 exhaust housing correct for the stage 3 wheel. Hey? Just a thought.

Hey merry Christmas you guys!
