GT-K 550 vs FP 3582HTA
i was wondering if the Forced Performance GT3582HTA turbo is comparible to the gtk 550 and which turbo would be more efficent at 35psi and make the most power at that boost with suppoting modds on a 2.0 mitsubishi motor ?

They are comparable yes. The GT-K 550 uses a GT-K 61 compressor which is the newer design of the 60-1/62-1 compressor and it also uses an F1 T3 Stage 5 turbine wheel. As it is the 60-1/62-1 units are on par with the GT35XX series of turbos. With the porting of the compressor shroud and the other technologies associated with the new GT-K line I would say its superior to the GT35...

If you read on Forced Performance website, they say there HTA 35R spools faster and makes more power then a normal 35R.
I would really like to know about the GTK 550 because i really like it, but everything i have read, pretty much says the GTK spools slower then a normal 35R, let alone the FP 35RHTA.
I really hope everyone is wrong about the GTK spooling slower because i would really like to get one, but if it spools slower and cost more then why bother,
I don't know why no one from Turbonetics has answered anyones questions about conparing a GTK 550 and a 35R

The reason you can't make cut and dry assumptions is because wheel designs aren't the only factor involved in turbo response. The A/R of the turbine housing and your max flow goal play a huge part in what the turbo will do when it is actually on your car. Of course a GT35R with a .48 A/R turbine is going to spool up faster then a turbo with a similar size turbine wheel but a .96 A/R turbine housing on the same car. If you want to get a good comparison you need to provide some details on what your car has done and what your goals are.

Fair enough but,
a .63 A/R GT35R from HTA
vs
a .63 A/R GTK550
what do you think the outcome would be? Ive seen great things from this HTA turbo

^^^ same as above,
Please let us know what you think would spool faster and make more power if you have a A/R .63 GTK550 and a A/R .63 GT35R, if you used them on the same motor, (doesn't matter what motor)

and I THIRD that motion! (6 months and no reply later )
1.8 turbo Audi here too ISO the right snail... fully built, standalone, .......... (insert BAT here)
I've heard alot of hype, and I sure would like some reasons to go with the GT-K (550 or 650) but Tial/Garrett worked over by Forced performance is looking quite promising at this point.
C'mon Turbonetics.
By the way, the "custom turbo order form" you said you were emailing me never showed up (not in my junk folder either...)
follow through

As I responded originally anyone who tells you a guranteed outcome is just pushing their brand. If thats the preference here then I'll go ahead and say GT-K is going to outperform the GT35 in every category. Rather then just giving you a pitch I was trying to quanitfy the reason why no one can factually predict the outcome of two different turbochargers on YOUR specific car without actually bolting each of them up and testing them. There are far too many factors at play to make a factual analysis of this. What I can tell you is that I have seen extremely similar cars and set ups with one running a GT35 and the other a GT-K 550 and in each case the GT-K 550 outperformed the GT35 in boost threshold and mass flow rate at equal pressure ratios.
