Default Water hook up on ball bearing turbo

Do you have to use the water hook up on a ball bearing turbo? The BB T58's I have, have no hookups, but the BB T78 I have does. So I got to wondering if it actually has to be hooked up.
Thanks Mike

If it has water ports they should be hooked up.

Thanks I was just wondering.

Are the ball bearings in the water cooled turbos not ceramic?

They are ceramic ball bearings as well yes. The water cooling is just an added safety measure and should also help reduce heat in the engine bay.
