Default T-66 vs. 64-1

Hey guys, I just got a quick question. Next week my car goes in for its engine build...I have an 03 Z with JWT cams, TN kit and a bunch of other goodies. Im looking to make huge power and i dont think the 60-1 turbo is going to cut it. I'd like to upgrade and have been doing some searching. Its seems like most people go with the t-66 for an upgrade, however a member on the forums is selling his 64-1 TN turbo for a good price. Im curious if the 64-1 is A) Significantly Bigger than the t-66 B) Is worth the swap in terms of hp increase and C) Is a simple bolt-on swap with the 60-1 without modification. Any info would help. Thanks!

I've never even heard of a 64-1 and am not aware of any turbo manufacturer who makes a turbo of that designation. You may want to re-check the source of this info..

That was another one of the questions i had....I hadnt heard of it either, however this is my 1st turbo car let alone major build, and I figured I may have just not been educated on all the nomenclature of TN. The individual selling the turbo states he bought it from another member on the forums and never used it...he also includes pics. Perhaps he wrote up the for sale post incorrectly? Heres the link....Tell me what you think.

Shoot, its not going to let you view it b/c you need to be signed in to the forum....I'll see if i can find a way for you to either view the ad, or the turbo pics themselves. But he definitely had the write up as a "brand new 64-1 ball bearing turbo" and if there is no such turbo, he either wrote it up wrong or he's just flat out lying. Thanks for the input!

Looks like Ed took care of you on that thread on my350. It appears to have a T4 turbine section so perhaps its a T64 but its definitely not going to bolt up to your kit with that housing..
