Wastegate spring on '03 Spec V
How much lbs of boost does the wastegate spring allow on a kit for an '03 spec v? I ask because I recently installed a 3" turbo back piping setup and boost went up to 10lbs.

9psi, and after pressure drop across the intercooler core you should see 8-8.5psi.

I'm running a custom manifold and 3" dp/midpipe/catback and I'm seeing 10psi currently. I changed the manifold and dp & midpipe first and was seeing 8-8.5, but when I installed the 3" catback, it instantly went up to 10psi...any ideas?

Yes I know why. When the exhaust backpressure dropped as a result of the exhaust change the turbine became more efficient and the wastegate is having a tougher time keeping the boost in check. Its not uncommon and in fact most factory turbo cars switch to a bigger exhaust with the intent of making this happen. All that being said if your AFR is looking good I wouldn't worry about it too much..

Ashwin if you are concerned you can always get the 7psi spring from us. I believe I have helped you in the past here at Turbonetics. If you do need the 7psi spring the part number is 30778-7 and retails for $26.39. You should be ok with what you have but just in case at least you have another option to look at.

Hey Ed, yup you've helped me quite a few times lol. I'm getting a Boost controller, so that should help. Thanks for the tip on the spring though...
