Bill,
After reading your posts, the hp66 or hp 72's will be the choice i would go..
As Robert correctly stated , we had the hp66's on the 358cube sbc, @ 29 psi , they where on song..
spool up was good too

I have since put the hp 72's on the same motor, and since i have more air now, we are reving it harder, and also got more boost ( 35 + psi)

The GTK's will spool quicker, hands down no agruements... Ive had twin gtk 550's , and gtk 1000's hybrids ,(with gtk 850 hotside). These GTK's out spool the standard T series, due to the special surge slots in comp housings.
In saying that, the gross air flow ( hp from turbos) , will be the same.
GTK 1000 = HP76 comp wheel = T76 turbo.

Think about it this way.... if you can get the turbos up to speed quicker, and run to 1/2 track faster, not many people will pass you down the other end....
so, a slightly smaller turbo, will spool quicker , and turbine speed acceleration will be faster with smaller wheels, ( less mass to spin up..)
HP66 comp wheel , matched to the F1-65 turbine housing, is hard to go past....

hope this helps
ash

Great Info Ash,
Your input is very helpful....Robert and the staff have helped out immensely. I think the engineers that Robert talked to are leaning me towards the 72's or GT-K 850 for moving more air down low since I am limited to 20psi max. boost. Now I could be wrong, but I think this is what there saying...I realize the 650's will spool faster which I like and hereing from you, my only concern is are we going to move enough air to make the power I want with lower boost pressures.
I understand what your saying and doing but leaving the line on the limiter with boost high and then running 29-35+ psi is a totally different animal than offroad racing going in and out of transitions constantly.
I'm still torn between 650's t-70's and 850's, this is a very hard decision coming from 60-1's....Any other info or input is greatly welcomed.....Awesome car, great work Ash...Thanks

Bill,
We've talked about a lot and I know it can be a tough call. I also know you have some info from others that have experience with your type of setup. I honestly think for piece of mind sake and costs perspective you could certainly run the HP72s and be comfortable knowing they have plenty of head room for your motor. The TN Series I refernced before would allow you to run HP72 compressors for a relatively reasonable investment in money. I know dollars don't grow on trees these days so i think you would be happy with the performance you get for the investment

Hey Robert,
I decide to go with the HP70's w/F1-68 turbine, I figure it's in between the 66's and the 72's, so i'm splitting the differance between the two which i feel isn't too small or too big. I could go around and around all day so this should still give me close to what I'm looking for and still a good size jump up from the 60-1's. Your last and final wisdom please...
Thanks again for the help and support,
Bill

Bill I think that is a good choice. I would recommend you go with a smaller than 1.30 A/R turbine housing with those F1-68s as they should be plenty large to handle the power you are going to make

Thanks, looking at going with the .96's per your engineering guys. I'm running two Tiel 45mm wastegtes, and one godzilla on the intercooler, do you think the twin 45mm is enough with these HP70's?
I'm really looking forward to seeing the performance differance with these HP70 vs the 60-1's, hoping they put a smile on my face.....
Thanks again,
Bill

A 45mm gate is typically good for the 700-800 HP range per gate so you should be ok with those for now. You'll be near the upper limit but yeah they should be fine. Likewise for the Godzilla. I'm sure you will really enjoy these new turbos. It's certainly going to be a power monster when you are done. (not that it isn't now)

Thanks Robert.....Again, your support, tech and knowledge is more than appreciated...I will let you know how it all works out and I feel good about my pick, crossing my fingers...LOL

You guys make a lot of good products and huge array of turbos, this was truely a hard decesion and I wanted it to spool good and make more power than the 60-1's without killing the driveablity for the sake of Hp numbers....

Awesome job Robert,
Bill
