Default Stage 3 vs Stage 5 Turbine wheels

Can someone please explain what the difference between these two wheels are? I'd like to do some turbine housing swapping without buying a new one if possible ...

The Stage 5 turbine wheel is physically larger then the Stage 3 but quite a bit in terms of turbine wheel sizes. The Stage 5 actually has a larger exducer even then a T4 O trim turbine but the major diameter is a bit smaller then the O trim.

Yes if you run a Stage 5 turbine wheel without enough displacement or ariflow to offset the larger turbine wheel you are going to see some lag.

we had journal bearing twin stg 3 turbine wheels with .82 a/r on 355 cube sbc..
went to bb twin stg 5 turbines wheels with .82 a/r on same 355 cube sbc

the spool up was THE SAME.
engine made more power, egt got colder, boost was slightly less ( with same boost setting on manual adjuster.)

turbos used where twin t3/ t04 super 'E' , 57mm, changed to twin gtk 550

cheers
ash

bought some more turbonetics turbo's

hp 66 's , custom built , with stg 5 wheel, t4 turbine , .82 a/r

the spool time is still the same ...
the engine has responded to extra comp side

the engine only requires 10-1 2 psi boost to do the same work as 24 psi with 57 mm twins

more data from dyno later
twin turbo sbc 358 cubes
