Default Turbocharger Questions

Hi there. Picked this turbo up off of Ebay and there are some supsicious looking things about it. I am not an expert, so I am hoping you all can give me some insight here.

Application is a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo. This turbo is supposed to be a 60-1 HIFI w/a Stage III turbine wheel. Was sold w/o the turbine housing, so I need to pick up a 3K #8 or #10 replica housing for it.

The more I looked at it though, the more questions I have. The turbo was claimed to have been rebuilt by Turbonetics and has a Turbonetics tag on it. Also has markings on the compressor wheel.

First Pic: Is it common to see the end of the turbine shaft ground down like this? I assume it is for balancing, but it looks shoddy to me. Also notice that one of the bolt holes on the back of the compressor housing seems to have been filled in? Can the back plate still be secured correctly with 5 bolts?

Is it me, or is this wheel bent. Can also see the Turbonetics stamps.

Other pics...

Should I just try and get a refund on this thing? What would you do? Thanks in advance!!

Well if that thing is a Turbonetics turbo its an ANCIENT one. Turbonetics hasn't used a compressor housing or backplate like that in YEARS. Do you have any pics of the compressor cover from the front. I SINCERELY doubt that was recently rebuilt if ever. Yes that compressor blade is DEFINITELY bent and I wouldn't run that on my lawn mower let alone a car. I would start trying to get a refund stat. The turbine housing shaft nut may be ground for balancing but certainly not like that. Something is very uncool about this unit.
